Bohemia pianos have been made in Czech Republic since 1871. Since 2006, C. Bechstein has a controlling interest in the company. C. Bechstein is a German piano maker founded in 1853.
Components of pianos are made in the Czech Republic or other parts of Europe.
Technically, Larry Fine's The Piano Book gives Bohemia a slightly higher technical grading compared to Japanese pianos. However, no details are given as to the after-sales servicing required for Bohemias.
My experience with Bohemia has been good. It has a very beautiful singing treble tone compared to other pianos in this price range. With age, some Bohemias may need some technical work other than tuning, similar to European cars that need a little more servicing than Japanese ones. However, these still represent good value purchases.
